NewsMax readers are brain dead
I went to watch a The Young Turks video and it had an embedded ad for a poll about President Obama on the NewsMax “news” web site. I clicked it. What a surprise they require that you sign up to receive email alerts from them to participate in the poll. So I used the Do Not Track Me email masking feature to subscribe in order to participate in the poll.
The results are no surprise if you know anything about the right wing echo chamber. I can actually understand why someone might disapprove of the presidents job performance or not trusting him. Many progressives are unhappy with him because of his coddling of the financial industry, failure to close Gitmo, expanding the previous administrations use of drones, etc. But I doubt that is why your typical NewsMax reader is unhappy with him.
What is particularly absurd is the 59% of respondents who believe the Affordable Care Act has hurt them. I can believe that a large number of individuals with decent jobs that provide good health insurance for a reasonable cost would say it has made no difference. But the number of people actually hurt by the ACA is in the low single digits as a percentage of the US population. And it’s probably close to zero for the sub population that is the NewsMax audience.
